"I took a walk around the boat and the Shimano Trinidad 20A had taken the crown from the Newell 338 as the go-to reel among the best surface iron fisherman in the world. There were still a few Newells in the rack and even a couple of Jigmaster 500s haywired with Tady 45's. There were still lots of Ulua's, a few 909's and a smattering of Harnell 542's and Calstar 100J's and even an old Sabre 540. Individually these rods were nothing special to look at. After all, they're the same rods everyone has seen leaning against galley doors for as long as there have been people throwing the iron on sportboats. But when you see them lined up side by side and filling every rod holder on the boat, they looked significant and powerful."
